BarleyGreen quite simply, is the most nutritious whole food supplement on the market today.  For years, BarleyGreen has been the leading whole food supplement available.  BarleyGreen has a 3 year shelf-life.

Barley grass is green cereal grass that has adapted to a wide variety of climates and is an excellent source of nutrition for both animals and humans.  The young green blades of grass concentrate large amounts of nutrients absorbed from the soil.  When barley leaves are 12-14 inches high, they contain all of the vitamins, minerals, and proteins necessary for the human diet, in addition to many other substances that help to keep us healthy including chlorophyll, many antioxidants, and detoxifying compounds.

Today, reports on the health benefits fo fresh vegetables appear in the news every week.  That's because fresh vegetables contain health-promoting nutrients not found in any other type of food.  They supply our body with the essential nutrients to efficiently run our cellular metabolism, build healthy tissue and protect us from free-radicals and other toxins.

Research has shown that we should consume five or more servings of fresh vegetables every day to stay healthy but people in industrialized countries find it difficult to do so.  Daily consumption of BarleyGreen is a convenient and effective way to make sure we get the nutrients found in fresh vegetables.  Even diets rich in vegetable and fruits may still be lacking in nutrients since comparative analyses have shown that present day commercially grown produce contains significantly fewer levels of nutrients than produce grown before the wide-spread use of pesticides and herbicides.  Although research has identified numerous benefical phytochemicals in edible plants, scientists predict that there may be thousands of health-promoting compounds yet to be discovered.  Cereal grasses like barley grass are considered to be the foundation of our food chain and contain the nutrition necessary to maintain health in both animals and humans.
BarleyGreen is a combination of young barley grass juice powder combined with a soluble carbohydrate and brown rice.  Barleyreen is processed in a unique manner allowing it to retain all the vital nutrients and active enzymes found in fresh barley grass juice.  Dr. Yoshihde Hagiwara, founder of Green Foods Corporation, discovered over 40 years ago that young barley grass is the most nutritionally balanced foods in nature.  As a renowned pharmacologist and president of his own pharmaceutical company in Japan, Dr. Hagiwara was uniquely qualified to develop a process that would capture and protect all the delicate phytonutrients in fresh  young barley grass in an easy-to-consume, soluble powder.  Dr. Hagiwara has dedicated his career to perfecting the ideal whole food supplement that has helped millions of people and regain their health.
Barleyreen is nature's multi-vitamin and mineral product since it contains essential nutrients in a natural balance.  It is this natural combination of a diversity of nutrients in combination with phyto- chemicals that produces a synergism of action.  In fact, studies have shown vitamins "C" and "E" obtained from whole foods like BarleyGreen are much more potent than when taken individually.  In addition, BarleyGreen contains active enzymes and their necessary co-factors such as minerals and B-vitamins.  BarleyGreen also contains the optimal balance of amino acids, essential fatty acids, carotenoids, bioflavonoids, and chlorophyll.  BarleyGreen also provides a variety of different types of antioxidants that act together synergistically for maximum protection against free radicals.

They key to BarleyGreen's nutritional superiority is the result of organic farming methods and technical know-how used to transform organic barley grass juice into a concentrated stable powder.

8 Steps of Processing and Quality Control
      1.  Grown "RIGHT" From the Start

BarleyGreen is organically grown and processed in Oxnard, California.  Because of its unique geology, Oxnard has one of the richest topsoils in the world.  The farming of Green Foods' barley grass begins in richly composted organic soil.  No pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers are ever used.  Once the soil is prepared, barley seeds are planted in rows to water wait for the perfect combination of water, oxygen and temperature to sprout.

      2.  Harvested For Maximal Nutrition
The young barley plants  are harvested just prior to the jointing stage, the time at which they are the most nutritious.  The processing facility is just minutes away from the fields and the entire process from harvest to powder takes only 2-4 hours!  This means that the product is fresh, allowing little time for loss of nutrients.

3.  Pure Water Rinse
Immediately after delivery to our processing facility, the plants are rinsed with fresh, pure water and tumbled dry.  No heat, detergents, or chemicals are ever used.  This is unlike many other green products, where bleaches are often used that may leave toxic by-products on the plants.

 4.  Gentle Juice Extraction
The nutrition of the barley grass resides in its juice, not the insoluble fiber.  The juice is separated from the tough, fibrous outer leaf using a gentle, low-pressure extraction process.  The delicate plant cells and nutrients are protected from destruction while the insoluble fiber is returned to the field for compostiing.

 5.  Oxygen Removal
Plant juices, left on their own, will begin to oxidize and within hours many important nutrients will be lost.  Using a vacuum evaporation system, the green barley juice is concentrated and protected from oxidation by removing excess oxygen and water.
The next step for the freshly-extracted juice is in one of four refrigerated 1,200-gallon stainless steel tanks.  Organtic maltodestrin, a complex carbohydrate derived from corn and treated with enzymes, is added to coat and protect the enzymes and other molecules so they will not chemically react with each other.  After drying, these carbohydrates form a protective matrix around the juice particles to keep oxygen away from the proteins and other delicate nutrients.

6.  Spray Drying:  The Most Important Step
The most critical step in the process is the drying process since many nutrients can be easily lost to heat and oxidation during this stage.  The concentrated green barley grass juice is pumped through an atomizer and spun dry in warm air so that the juice particles do not exceed body temperatures.

   7.  Granulated for Solubility
The bulk powder is ut through a granulation process where the fine powder is transformed into larger, uniformly-sized granules making it easier to dissolve when mixed with water or other liquids.

      8.  Quality Control
Each lot is inspected at different stages of production for taste, solubility, pH, protein, chlorophyll, and microbial content.  In addition, nutritional analyses and other quality assurance tests are performed by independent offsite laboratories.

Try the following tests with BarleyGreen vs. other products:
(1) Cold Water Test for Fiber and (2) Hot Water Test for Enzymes
1. Mix powders of both products in test tube filled with COLD WATER, stir and let sit for 10 minutes.
2. BarleyGreen stays mixed in solution, while other powders with insoluble fiber will settle to the bottom.

1.  Mix powders of both products in test tube filled with HOT WATER, stir, and let sit for 10 minutes.
2.  The proteins in BarleyGreen clump up because they are intact proteins; other products dissolves proteins
are already denatured.  Enzymes are proteins and exhibir activity only if they contain intact proteins.
